Abstract

Crop evaluation requires various information, which is collected manually. These manual data collection methods are labor intensive and error prone. However, the new research area, called phenomics, has been developed significantly to deal with these issues. Yet, it has many technical issues to should be considered. One of these issues is the occurrence of shadow images. When an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) captures images in the field, there is always the chance that shadow images will occur due to cloud or trees. It may or may not cause different RGB data to be relayed, which can influence results and therefore conclusions in crop evaluation strategies. Thus, the current study was designed to evaluate the extent of the differences between the shadow and no-shadow images obtained by UAVs.
